There’s no denying that Boris FX is one of the big shots in After Effects plug-in. The company has been releasing them since 1995, and Continuum Complete 5 is the latest offering.
Continuum Complete aims to provide an all-encompassing suite of filters for motion-graphics and video pros- including colour , distortion, texture and painterly effects, and lightning . In fact , there’s over 180 filters in Continuum Complete, with 1500 presets. On paper, it looks like a great bundle at a reasonable price (around $895). In use, its slots into the After Effects interface beautifully, nesting in the Effects & Presets palette, and provides a plethora of filters for what feels like almost any purpose. For instance, the Motion Blur and Color Correction filters do an excellent job, and some of the texture generators and effects are extremely useful.
In terms of new filters for this release, Continuum Complete 5 is a decent enough update. New additions include Damaged TV, Turbulence (we couldn’t find any real use for it) and UpRez, which does a great job of resizing SD footage to HD resolutions. Standouts include the brilliant LED filter which turns your images into an array of LED lights.
Overall Continuum Complete 5 will be useful to many video creatives. Definitely recommended.
